How to choose the right Sunscreen for your skin type


Did you know that excessive exposure of sun can lead to damage and breakouts our skin. When you see a mirror, you find out the damaging effect of sun exposure on your skin. It leads to Wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, pimples, acne, sunburn or many more. So, it is important to choose the right Sun Protection for our skin. 

Dermatologists and skin specialist say that if you want to protect your skin than starts using sunscreen or sunblock creams. But you know how important it is to select the right sun protection factor (SPF) for your skin.


Sunscreen should be selected according to the skin type or skin colour. The people have fair skin colour can go with higher SPF and darker skin people should go with lower SPF. It prevents the skin from dark spots, pigmentation and discolouration. 

Skin specialist advise that a sunscreen should be apply at least 15-20 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours. Many varieties of sunscreen are available in market, in form of creams, lotions, sprays, wipes and powder. Even in beauty products  like foundation, compact powder, lip balms, sunscreen available in all of them.

How to choose the correct sunscreen for your skin type 


For Oily skin
The people who have Oily skin, look for a greaseless sunscreen  like gel based or Aqua based SPF sunscreen. These type of SPF has a drying effect and does not make the greasy and shiney look to your skin. Always check and avoids mineral ingredient in the SPF. This type of skin is one of the most problematic types. The skin of face has spots of oil on your cheeks, nose and the forehead. The face always looks greasy, coarse and shiny with large pores. Mostly pimples and acne occurs in this type of skin

For Dry skin
The people with dry skin, choose hydrating cream and lotion which always provides moisture to your skin. Dry skin usually uncomfortable and feels tight after washing due to its low level of sebum. So, after ever wash you should apply a good moisturiser because dry skin not able to retain moisture. Lotion or moisturising SPF with glycerine or aloe vera is the best choice for dry skin. You may avoid gels and spray sunscreens because they dry more your skin.

For Normal skin
Normal skin types is the best skin with the least problems. The people with normal skin are lucky one. Normal skin has less oiliness and even no dryness. It looks smooth, clean and clear with healthy complexion. You can go with a cream-based sunblock sunscreen.

For sensitive skin
Sensitive skin people may choose hypoallergenic and fragrance free sunscreen. Sensitive skin is not a skin type , in any condition in which your skin is prone to itching, tightness, red patches, dryness or irritation due to cosmetic products or toiletries. These are all signs of your skin sensitivity. Look  titanium dioxide and zinc oxide both together because they less sensitising and protect from UV Rays.

For acne-prone skin
If you have acne or pimples on your skin, you may be highly reactive to sunscreens. You can use light and oil free lotion with benzone  in it. You go with gel or water based SPF lotion, avoid cream based SPF.
