Gooseberry Pickle Recipe - Easy Amla Achar Recipe


Gooseberry is commonly known as Amla in India. Gooseberry is rich source of vitamin- C and very beneficial for our health.Common facts that we know about Amla is- Amla is good for our hair growth, for our skin but Amla also enhances food absorption, balances stomach acid, fortifies the liver, nourishes the brain, supports the heart, helps the urinary system, improves muscle tone and, acts as an antioxidant any many more. 

Gooseberry Pickle Recipe - Easy Amla Achar Recipe

Ingredients
  • Gooseberry/Amla – 500 gm 
  • Oil – 200 gm (any oil but mustard oil is preferred)
  • Turmeric Powder – 2 teaspoons
  • Red chili powder – 1 teaspoons  
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 teaspoonYellow 
  • Mustard seeds (grinded coarsely) – 3 teaspoons
  • Fennel seed powder – 2 teaspoon 
  • Asafetida – 3 - 4 pinch
  • Salt to taste

How to make Gooseberry pickle or Amla ka Achar

  • First, wash all the gooseberry or amla properly in clean water.
  • Take a big bowl or utensil, put 500-600 gm water into it on high heat.
  • When water starts boiling, add gooseberry or amla in it and boil it for 5-8 minutes till gooseberry or amla properly boiled.
  • Pour out the water and let the remaining water dry from gooseberry/amla.
  • Now, separates the slices of gooseberries/amlas and remove their seeds.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan and add asafetida and fenugreek seeds and stir them.
  • Add turmeric powder, fennel seed powder, red chili powder, yellow mustard and salt in it and mix well.
  • Put the gooseberries/amla into this mixture and mix them together properly. 
  • Now, Your Gooseberry/Amla Pickle is ready.
You can store the pickle in any glass container.Now pour the remaining oil in the pickle.Keep it stored for 3 -4 days, so that it marinates well.


Note- Always remember that you should take out any pickle with a clean and dry spoon otherwise there are chances of spoilage of the pickle.
